You are very welcome. I'm just pleased when anyone accesses the files and I don't feel like I'm whistling to myself 😁. Hope you enjoy.

Christopher has requested a broadcast of de Hartmann's 12 Russian Fairy Tales Op.58. The full concert from Bournemouth entitled 'Fairytales and Folklore' is in the Downloads Folder should anyone else want it.

Don't know if anyone would be remotely interested in this (most of the items I post seem to have little traffic) but RAI Radio Tre broadcast a contemporary opera by Andrea Portera called Isacco, il figlio imperfetto ( a recording of a performance from 7th December 2024). Description from the website of Nuova Consonanza reads:

A chamber opera about the figure of Isaac, revisited according to modern interpretations, which see the Biblical Patriarch as an introverted character with autistic traits and cognitive delays. A story that also offers a glimpse into the relationship between parents and their child's disability.

story and music * by Andrea Portera
freely adapted from the book Isaac, the imperfect son by Gianni Marmorini
directed by Andrea Portera and Keith Ferrone

Valentina Coladonato female voice - Sarah Giusy Signoretta actress - Agar Keith Ferrone dancer and choreographer - Isacco
with the participation of Laura Artusio – Rebecca

Animae Voces Choir
Edoardo Materassi choir master

ContempoArt Ensemble
Claudia Bucchini flute, Giovanni Inglese cello, Marco Gaggini piano, Marco Ferruggia percussion
Vittorio Ceccanti director

Anyway, it's in Downloads should anyone be interested...........

Jonah has requested the following concert featuring the Chiaroscuro Quartet and Cédric Tiberghien playing chamber music by German Romantic greats, Schumann and Mendelssohn. Presented live from Aldeburgh Festival by Ian Skelly. I'm fortunately able to oblige and the files are in the Downloads folder.

Schumann: Fantasy Op.17
Mendelssohn: String Quartet Op.12
Schumann: Piano Quintet

Actually another forum member gave me recordings of all the episodes last year in private. Thank you for post it in public.

👍

Thank you for this extra version. I didn’t know it exists. I feel the old Thorofon recording is not a good performance, and Ilan Volkov’s performance finally came to rescue many years later. It is good to see another one is available!

You are welcome. Have you managed to access the Composer of the Week files ok?

Kevin

As a bonus to the Composer of the Week recordings of Johanna Müller-Hermann just posted, there's an alternative version of the Heroic Overture conducted by Ryan Wigglesworth in 2023 in the Downloads folder as well.

Did anyone happened to have recorded the complete version of that COTW series? A shortened version with music examples all cut to some twenty seconds is now available. But there are some unique recordings in that program, such as Takenouchi’s recording of the Piano Sonata and other piano pieces. Ilan Volkov also conducted two of her one movement orchestral works, the Heroic Overture and the Brand Symphonic Fantasy, though they were also available on Thorofon in a somewhat sloppier recording. There was also a specially recorded Violin Sonata (another is available on hanssler) and the Cello Sonata that use the recording of Camerata Records (which is coupled with Weigl and Webern works available elsewhere so I’m hesitant to buy it)

Sorry, only just seen this! Full episodes now available in Downloads. Hope you enjoy!

Another of "George's Cassettes":

Nicholas Sackman (b.1950)
Hawthorn
performed live at the 1993 Proms by Andrew Davis and the BBC Symphony Orchestra (note: this is not the 1995 NMC Studio recording but the 1993 World Premiere)

For members who have been around a relatively short time, I will preface this with a short introduction.

Quite a while ago, I acquired a collection of around 500 cassettes from a lady in Nottingham whose father had spent a considerable amount of time recording BBC Radio 3 broadcasts including a fair few Proms in the 80s and 90s. I uploaded a good selection a few years ago (my previous incarnation is identified as 'Guest 7' for some reason) and some of those links have probably expired. Anyway, now having settled into my new life here in Tywyn, I hope to resurrect the transfer of these tapes into a digital format and hopefully, therefore, preserve them for the future. As far as I know they are not commercially available and I trust you will inform me if that is wrong and I'll obviously remove those uploads immediately.

This first offering contains a 'Terezin Concert':

Hans Krása (1899-1944) - Tanz
Gideon Klein (1919-1945) - String Trio
Pavel Haas (1899-1944) - Study for Strings
Viktor Ullmann (1898-1944) - Symphony No 2 in D (1944) [UK premiere]

performed by {Krása, Klein} The Group for New Music and {Haas, Ullmann} the BBC Philharmonic and Israel Yinon
in a broadcast from 3rd October 1993 at Whitworth Hall, University of Manchester introduced by Christopher Cook.

Hope someone else enjoys it as I did......

I've just put a copy in Downloads, however it is only at 128mbps sorry. Should still be listenable though. I hope so!
Thank you very much, cameronmoss! The low bitrate is not a problem at all for me, as I would always opt for low-bitrate but still listenable audio files to save the space on my hard disk!
P.S. And thank you for separating the tracks!

You are very welcome 👍

About 3 years ago our illustrious leader, Albion, asked if I had a performance of Bantock's Fifine at the Fair broadcast on BBC Radio 3 back in December 2017. I didn't at the time but have just come across it! I hope you are still checking in, John, and that you enjoy this performance.

All the best,
Kevin
